Fall 2014 Campout @ Huntsville State Park
Friday November 21 - Sunday, November 23, 2014, the weekend before the Thanksgiving holiday (Webelos only on Friday night.)
If you have not turned in a BS medical form and a photocopy of both sides of your insurance card FOR EACH CAMPER, please do so as soon as possible. The form can be directly downloaded here: http://www.wupack266.org/images/BSA_Medical.pdf
You can bring the medical forms to the pack meeting on November 18th or drop it off at Michelle Leppard’s house (6426 Sewanee).
Hunstville State Park 100 State Park Road 40 Huntsville, TX 77342 Telephone: (936) 295-5644
Medical Forms: You should have filled out a medical form at registration for your Scout. However, please be advised that we will need a form for each family member who will be camping along with a copy of the insurance card.
Who May Attend: The camping trip is for Cub Scouts and their immediate families. Pack 266 adheres strictly to the BSA’s National Youth Protection Policy which requires that only parents and legal guardians can stay in tents with children in their immediate families. Any exceptions must be specifically approved by our Cubmaster, Tim Cook.
Cost: $30 per family. There will be an additional charge of $5.00 per adult (per day) when arriving at the park.
Meals: The dens will be responsible for all meal preparations with the exception of Saturday evening which will feature BBQ entrees provided by the Pack followed by a campfire. We encourage dens to bring the side items for a BBQ pot luck dinner. Entree will include brisket (chopped & sliced), sausage, chicken and limited turkey.
Camping Gear: All families will need their own camping gear. There is a good list of necessary items on the Pack 266 website, so take a look especially if you are new to camping.
Activities: Camping, picnicking, hiking, biking and fishing. Lake Raven is easily accessible to fishermen, with a pier located a few 100 yards from our sites. The park has an onsite convenience store. They also sell bundles of firewood and ice if needed.
The Pack has reserved 22 (8) person sites for the campout. Each site has water, a fire ring and picnic table. We will generally organize the dens on these sites by rank and you will receive your site assignment upon arrival at the campsite. Webelos only will be invited to camp on Friday night with the rest of the ranks joining the Pack on Saturday. Pack-wide Events will begin on Saturday with Flag Ceremony at 10:00am.
The Nature Center houses exhibits pertaining to the ecosystems in the park.
On Sunday after camp breaks there are some opportunities for canoeing or water activities at the park. You can also call ahead of time to inquire about equestrian activities (these activities are not part of weekend program).
